Rabbi Moshe Stern, Rabbi Emeritus
Rabbi Stern was the spiritual leader of Shaarei Tefillah Congregation from 1980 - 2012. He was born and raised in Montreal, and studied at the Rabbinical College of Canada - Lubavitcher Yeshiva, where he received his rabbinics ordination. He received his secular education at Sir George Williams University in Montreal, at the University of Georgia, and the University of Alabama.
In the early 1990's, Rabbi Stern togther with the entire congregation raised funds to provide a bullet proof van to transport school children in the various Israeli settlements that had experienced acts of terror. In the summer of 2006, during the Lebanon war, again Shaarei Tefillah came to the forefront to purchase a fully-equipped Magen David Adom ambulance that was sent to the front lines. At that time, Rabbi Stern mentioned that it was the easiest fundraising that he had ever undertaken, because everyone understood the need to stand in solidarity with Israel
It is important to note that Rabbi Moshe Stern is an expert on medical ethic and halachik issues. His experience in this area stretches back four decades. He is often called upon in times of crisis, for consultation in these areas especially with regards to the elderly.
