Bar/Bat Mitzvah Programmes
The BBM (Beyond Bat Mitzvah) Program aims to empower each girl to understand and find her place individually, as a woman, and as a Jew in the wider community, through learning, hands-on activities, fabulous speakers, and interaction with each other as well as with various female role models.
The program is open to all girls who will be turning 12 in 2015.
Duration: 6 months (October-March)
Time: Alternate Sunday mornings from 10:30 am-12:00 pm
We aim to provide both a learning component and a creative/hands-on approach to learning about what it means to be a "Bat Mitzvah" (i.e.: the role of the Jewish woman, self-esteem, values and peer pressure, female heroines, etc...). Chesed projects, workshops, and other interactive activities will help to integrate the learning into the girls' lives in a practical way.
There will also be periodic Mother –Daughter activities.
The program culminates in a family-centred celebration where each girl presents a dvar Torah that she has written based on a topic of her choice.
Cost for the session:
Shaarei Tefillah members: $225
Non-members: $325
